Draining
Does the cooler have a pressure release valve, or do you have to open the drain cover to release negative pressure?
If there is pressure that is preventing you from opening the cooler, open the drain plug to release. This should not happen as the gasket in the top of the cooler is not air tight.
Does it have a drain? Is the plug included?
Yes, the cooler has an included drain plug.
Do the drain plugs screw on?
Yes, the drain plug screws onto the cooler and is attached by a tether so that you do not lose it.
General Questions
Does this cooler sweat? Does the outside get wet?
Condensation is normal around the lid and drain plug but the body of the cooler should not sweat.
Is the cooler air tight?
The cooler is intentionally not airtight to prevent it from becoming vacuum-sealed when closed.

30qt Cooler - The cooler will fit 48 cans if only filled with cans. If filled with the recommended 15 pounds of ice, the cooler can fit 28 cans between the main compartment and drawer.
50qt Cooler - The cooler will fit 80 cans if only filled with cans. If filled with the recommended 25 pounds of ice, the cooler can fit 45 cans between the main compartment and drawer.
How heavy is the cooler?

What is the capacity in quarts or liters?

Can you sit on theses coolers without damaging the lid?
Yes, the coolers are designed to withstand the weight of someone sitting on them. Do not stand on the cooler.
How long will frozen meat stay frozen in the cooler?
30qt Cooler - Under lab tested conditions, the 30qt cooler should stay under 40F for up to 5 days in 95F degree weather and when it is filled with ice. What is the height of the cooler with the lid fully open? That is, from the floor to the top edge of the lid when open.
The cooler height is 33".
Does the cooler have a locking hatch? Is this cooler lockable?
The main compartment of the cooler is lockable with a padlock. The padlock is sold separately. Additionally, the drawer compartment has a lock to use during transit.
Do darker colors (I.e. navy) get hot to the touch in the sun?
Dark colors may get hot to the touch on the exterior surface of the cooler. It is recommended to keep the cooler in the shade for best performance.
I want to buy this to keep hot foods hot. Is it possible?
Yes, the same insulation that keeps the cooler cold can also keep items warm.
Are there any pre-chill recommendations?
In order to get the best performance out of your cooler, it is recommended to pre-chill. Before using, leave the cooler open in a cool space for a few hours or overnight. For even better results, fill with ice to lower the inside temperature. Drain when ready to use then add fresh ice and cold contents.
Is the cooler leak proof?
The drain plug is leak proof but the cooler is not leakproof out of the lid so that it does not get vacuum sealed when closed.
Are the feet non-slip? Are they removable?
The feet are non-slip and are not removable.
How to organize your cooler ?
To maximize your Ninja FrostVault™ Cooler with Dry Drawer:
- Use at least 25lbs of ice for the 50qt cooler, or 15lbs for the 30qt cooler.
- Place ice at the bottom of the main compartment for effective cooling.
- Ensure contents are already cold before packing to conserve energy.
- Store fragile or water-sensitive items in the cooler drawer.
- Place items that can tolerate moisture in the main compartment, such as cans and condiments.
Do I need to add a minimum amount of ice in the cooler ?
30qt Cooler - For best performance use a minimum of 15 lbs of ice.

Why doesn’t the Ninja FrostVault™ cooler have wheels?
The Ninja FrostVault™ cooler does not have wheels. The FrostVault™ includes durable molded handles that make it easy to transport your cooler.

Are the ice pack, padlocks, and divider included? Or can I purchase them separately?
The cooler does not come with any accessories. Ice packs, divider, and padlocks can be purchased separately on ninjakitchen.com.

Cleaning Questions
How should I clean the cooler?
First cleaning: Before first use, clean the cooler with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let air-dry.
Routine cleaning: After each use, rinse your cooler with warm, soapy water. Scrub the interior with a soft brush or cloth to remove any residue or odors. Rinse thoroughly and let air-dry.
Deep cleaning: Apply a paste of baking soda and water to stubborn stains or odors and scrub gently. Rinse thoroughly and let air-dry.
After use care: Leave the lid and drawer open until the cooler is completely dry to prevent mold or odors. Close the lid and drawer then store the cooler in a cool, dark, and dry place.
Drawer cleaning: Pull Ninja FrostVault™ Dry Zone drawer out completely, lift at an angle, and remove like you would a dresser drawer. Rinse or wipe away any sand or dirt between uses. Clean with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let air-dry. To reinsert, put back in at an angle and close.
Are accessories dishwasher safe?
The divider is dishwasher safe. The ice packs and locks are handwash only.
How do I remove the drawer for cleaning?
Pull the drawer out as far as it goes, lift up at an angle and pull. The drawer should easily come out. In order to put the drawer back in, put it back at the same angle it was removed at and it should easily slide in. Do not force the drawer open or closed.

We recommend using a combination of ice packs and loose ice for best results.
How many bags of ice cubes can this cooler hold?
30qt Cooler - The cooler can fit up to 30 lbs of ice in the main compartment.
50qt Cooler - The cooler can fit up to 50 lbs of ice in the main compartment.
How to maximize ice retention?
THE RIGHT RATIOS: For the best FrostVault™ experience, we recommend filling your cooler’s main compartment with 33 cans and a minimum of 25 lbs of ice. DO NOT use dry ice. Ice does not need to be placed in the drawer.
PRE-CHILL THE COOLER: Before using, leave the cooler open in a cool space for a few hours or overnight. For even better results, fill with ice to lower the inside temperature. Drain when ready to use, then add fresh ice and pre-chilled contents.
MAXIMIZE ICE RETENTION PACK EFFICIENTLY & KEEP CLOSED: Fill the cooler completely with ice, food, and drinks, then use a towel to fill empty space if necessary. To retain cold temperatures and ice, keep the cooler closed. Keep shaded or cover with a tarp or blanket for best results.
