Cleaning and maintenance

Which parts are dishwasher safe?

All parts except the cooking base and thermometer are dishwasher safe.

Can I use oven cleaner on the unit?

No, harsh cleaners such as conventional oven or grill cleaners can degrade the nonstick coating of the cooking pot.

How do I clean the smart thermometer?

The Foodi Smart Thermometer and holder are hand-wash only with a damp cloth.

On which functions can I adjust the cook time?

You can adjust the cook time when using the Slow Cook, Bake, Braise, Proof, Sous Vide, and Steam functions. You cannot adjust the cook time when using Sear/Sauté, Keep Warm, Oats, Rice, and Pasta functions.

What happens if the unit runs out of water when using the Steam function?

If the unit runs out of water before the timer shows 0:00, the unit will pause and display "ADD WTR". Add water to the cooking pot. The unit will bring it to a boil and the timer will continue where it left off.

What do I do if there is condensation around the lid?

Use caution when removing the lid after cooking. ALWAYS lift and tilt the lid away from you when removing, using care to ensure water does not drip into the unit's base.

What are the cooking pot and lid made of?

The lid is primarily made out of glass. The pot interior is nano ceramic coated aluminum with a nonstick coating which includes a cooking surface made PFAS free.

What happens if the power goes out while I'm not home and the slow cooker is on?

The unit will automatically turn off. If the unit has been off for a prolonged period of time due to power failure, dispose of any food in the cooking pot for health and safety reasons.

I accidentally poured water into the cooker's main housing instead of the pot. What should I do?

Unplug the unit and let it cool, then use a large towel to absorb as much water as possible. When the main housing is completely dry, you can use the unit again. Can I deep fry in the unit?

No, we do not recommend using this unit for deep frying.

Why does the unit take so long to brown on the Sear/Sauté function?

Allow the unit to fully preheat for 5 minutes before adding ingredients to the cooking pot. This will allow the unit to come up to temperature so when ingredients are added, they will cook effeciently.

What is the temperature of the unit on the Braise function?

The temperature on the Braise function hovers around 210°F (99°C) so liquids will bubble slightly but not come to a full boil.

Why is there water trapped in the lid after washing it?

There are two ways that water can be removed from the lid: 1. Dab the area that has water in it with a paper towel, then place the lid on a drying rack to air-dry overnight. 2. Using the lid to cook again will cause the water to evaporate.

Can I use the thermometer without the lid?

The thermometer is designed to be used through the lid; however, for smaller portions of protein the thermometer will need to be used without the lid.

Why is there a popping/crackling/hissing sound coming from the lid when cooking?

Two things can cause this noise: 1. Moisture can get trapped between the glass and the stainless steel rim around the glass and cause a popping/crackling/hissing sound. This is normal and will not affect cooking performance. 2. As the lid heats up and the glass and stainless steel start to expand slightly, the thermal expansion can create a noise. There is no need for concern.

How can I remove water trapped from the lid?

There are two ways that we recommend water to be removed from the lid: 1. Dab the area that has water in it with a paper towel, then place the lid on a drying rack to air-dry overnight. 2. Using the lid to cook again will cause the water to evaporate.

Where can I find my smart thermometer on my unit?

It can be found on top of the box, on the top side of the unit. It is neatly placed in the thermometer holder.

Why is my food overcooked or undercooked even though I used the thermometer?

Please follow the recommendations in our Quick Start Guide (chart below) on how to place the thermometer based on your food type. Note: If you need to remove the lid during cooking, make sure to remove thermometer from lid first. You will need to reinsert the thermometer once the lid is placed back on the pot.

Set-up & General Use

Can I leave my house with the unit plugged in and cooking?

It is safe to leave the unit plugged in and cooking when using the Slow Cook function.

Can I put the pot in the refrigerator and freezer?

You can put the cooking pot in the refrigerator, but we do not recommended putting it in the freezer.

Can I put the pot and lid in the oven?

Yes, the pot and lid are oven safe up to 500°F.

Is the cooking pot microwave safe?

No, the cooking pot is not microwave safe.

Can I use the pot on the stovetop or stove?

No, the cooking pot cannot be used on a stovetop or stove. Do not place the unit on the stove during use or for storage.

The lights on the display screen are going in a circle.

This indicates that the Rice, Pasta, Oats function has started and is actively cooking.

What type of utensils should I use?

We recommend non-metal utensils to avoid scratching the surface of the cooking pot. You can also use the rice spoon.

Is preheating required?

The Sear/Sauté function has a built-in preheat time of around 5 minutes and will provide the best out-put, but it is not required.

What does it mean when "Pot" appears on the display screen?

The cooking pot is not inside the cooking system. Insert the pot.

Why is the unit counting so slowly?

You may have set the timer to hours rather than minutes. When you set the time, the display will show HH:MM and the time will increase/decrease in 1-minute increments.

Why did the unit shut off?

The unit will shut off if no cook function is started within 10 minutes of turning on the power.

Why is the unit discoloring?

Discoloration is normal for the cooking pot of this unit, especially when cleaned in a diswasher. To reduce the chances of discoloration and extend the life of the nonstick coating, handwash the pot.

How much does the unit weigh?

The unit weighs approximately 12.5 pounds.

What are the dimensions of the unit?

What is the maximum power that the unit draws?

This unit draws 1400 watts

Why is the unit tripping a circuit breaker?

This unit will draw more than 10 amps at full power. If the unit is plugged into an outlet on a 10-amp breaker, it may trip the breaker. If the unit is plugged into an outlet on a 15-amp circuit breaker along with another items/appliances in use, it may trip the breaker. Try using a different outlet. Otherwise, contact a licensed electrician for assistance.

What is the capacity of the unit?

The cooking pot capacity is 8.5 quarts.

Can I use aluminum foil and parchment paper with the unit?

Yes. It is safe to use parchment paper and aluminum foil in the cooking pot. The use of aluminum foil is suggested in some recipes.

Why is the unit counting up rather than down?

The unit counts up with functions including Sear/Sauté and Keep Warm to track elapsed time at temperature. This allows you to accurately determine how long the unit has been on at the designated function (like a stop watch), while leaving the cook time up to user discretion.

Why can't I set a timer for a function?

Some functions do not include a timer function because the cook time is up to user discretion.

Why are there marks on the outside of my pot?

The exterior coating may get marks on it over repeated use. Some of these marks can be removed by hand washing.

Where should I store my smart thermometer?

Please store thermometer in holder provided when not in use.
